Attic Leaks: AC Condensate Lines and Water Heaters
Why Central Texas attics cause so many ceiling leaks.
KYLE NEIGHBORHOOD · PLUM CREEK
An AC drain line overflowing in the attic, or water under the laminate in a Plum Creek home? Get the water damage assessed.
In Plum Creek, the age of the house decides the water damage. Plum Creek is Kyle's flagship master-planned community, with more than 3,000 lots east of I-35 along Kohlers Crossing and Center Street, a golf course and trail network, and homes built across many years. In the older sections, original water heaters, supply lines and AC drain pans are reaching the age when they let go. In the newer ones, it's more often an installation detail: a drain line without enough slope, or a fitting behind a vanity. Either way, the leak usually starts in the attic or inside a wall.

Plum Creek homes are mostly single-story and two-story slab-on-grade houses, many with the air handler in the attic and some with the water heater there too. Two-story plans put bathrooms and laundry rooms over living space, so ceiling stains are a common first sign.
Calls from here usually involve ceiling water damage, walls, drywall & floors, burst pipes & slab leaks, attic AC & water heater leaks, flood cleanup or the full restoration & mitigation process. The same number covers all of it.
